Fine Art Print FAQs
Created in 2022. Lawrence says that this painting was one of those that seemed to develop almost on its own, which is a sure sign that he was experiencing one of those relatively rare experiences of creative “flow.” He almost never starts a new landscape with any preconceived idea as to what it will look like, so as he watched it come together under his brush, he had time to let his mind wander, and the song “McArthur Park” came into his mind. He has always loved that song, and it was part of his repertoire in the 60s and 70s when he played guitar and sang at private functions and the occasional gig in nightclubs around town. He made the requisite pilgrimage to San Francisco in 1969 and visited the pare, only to be disappointed by its banality. This painting, he says, is what it SHOULD have looked like.
