Fine Art Print FAQs
Created in 2022. This is one of a (currently) small collection of works that may have also launched a new brand. Lawrence was working on “just another landscape” with colorful hills and trees casting shadows, and it seemed unremarkable. He is not known for unremarkable paintings! In a flash of insight, he decided to replace the blue sky with black and consequently created a cognitive dissonance of remarkable power. The clouds are still white and side-lit by an afternoon sun that is still casting long shadows across the rolling hills. An afternoon sun and starry, black sky simply cannot exist--in this universe, at least. Lawrence had created a world that could exist only in his mind--or in another universe. If that world doesn’t exist, it certainly should! Over the past few months, fully half of his work has been of this kind, and he has considered launching a new brand focusing ONLY on this kind of painting. To a large degree, he OWNS this look and its unique, playful character and believes that he owes it to himself to see where it can go.
