Created in 2022. Westport, MA, USA. Artwork Dimensions (w x h x d): 24 x 36 x 1.5 in. Jael is a cow not a bull. She is an American Milking Devon. They cauterize the horns in most breeds in modern times when they are young, but they do not do it at her farm since it is a colonial farm.   The farmer named her Jael after the Bible character. Jael is the name of the heroine who delivered Israel from the army of King Jabin of Canaan in the Book of Judges of the Bible. What they don’t tell you in Judges is what I have depicted here.   After Jael killed King Jabin by driving a tent peg through his skull, they celebrated for three days. They put a garland around Jael’s shoulders and adorned her head and they came from everywhere just to meet her.   This collage has elements from the artist’s life pasted onto it. Most notable are the Alphonse Mucha references from a museum visit. There are also elements from a 2021 Van Gogh calendar the artist had for personal use.
