Fine Art Print FAQs
Created in 2019. Artwork Dimensions (w x h x d): 20 x 30 x 3 in. "Emersyn" explores the concept of subjectivity in the digital age. The artist recognizes that one's identity is no longer solely determined by biographical realities, but rather, is influenced by mainstream media and the multitude of curated digital identities that we create on social media. This virtual world has become integrated into the chronology of social time and life, blurring the line between online and offline existence. Through the artwork, the artist asks the viewer to consider the duality of self that exists in the digital age. Our public persona, or avatar, is a sanitized projection of ourselves, a virtual expression stemming from rampant narcissism. Self-expression, be it in person or digital, is ultimately an affectation, and identity is a dynamic process. The artwork encourages the viewer to reflect on the social conditioning and subliminal advertising that inform our private selves and to question the authenticity of our curated digital identities.
