Brian Evans is a visual artist and composer whose digital animations translate musical structures into luminous fields of color, inviting viewers to see sound.

Working across digital art, animation, sound, and data visualization, Evans builds computer models from musical notes, chords, timbres, and fractal forms, then maps those structures into images and motion. His visual music reveals the architecture of sound through light, color, and movement.

Evans began as a freelance musician, vocalist, guitarist, arranger, film composer, and songwriter in Los Angeles. He earned an MFA in music composition from CalArts and a Doctor of Musical Arts in composition, with a computer science minor, from the University of Illinois. His research in data sonification and visualization has led to international exhibitions and screenings, including presentations at Atlanta’s High Museum, Rome’s Biblioteca Angelica Gallery, and Disney Hall’s REDCAT. His distinctions include an NSF CreativeIT award, a Hambidge Fellowship, ASCAP Plus Awards, and publication in Computer Music Journal.
