Olga Stamatiou
Olga Stamatiou, born in New York City, began her artistic journey in 1967. Her formal education started in the vibrant arts scene of Athens, Greece, in the mid-1960s, where she studied under painter Ilias Dekoulakos.
Returning to the U.S. in 1976, she earned her BFA and MFA from Boston University. For the next two decades, she exhibited her work across the United States before moving back to Greece in 1997. Her work is a metaphor for life, exploring the tension between light and dark and the ebb and flow of life force present in all creatures.
In 2008, she co-founded the award-winning nonprofit Seewall Child, creating art installations for children in crisis centers. Today, Olga Stamatiou continues to create, paint, and work with children in Greece, finding joy in the process of letting layers appear and express themselves in her art.
