Fine Art Print FAQs
Created in 2019. Artwork Dimensions (w x h x d): 20 x 30 x 3 in. Ada is a mixed media work that explores the themes of roots and routes. It investigates the concept of migration as a journey that involves leaving a familiar place behind in search of a new home, as well as the emotional and psychological effects of such a journey. The figures that are removed and placed across the plane of the female portrait symbolize the movement and displacement experienced by migrants. The female portrait is a representation of the collective identity that is rooted in a particular place, culture, and tradition. The work raises questions about the relationship between identity and migration, and how migration can impact a person's sense of self and belonging. Through the juxtaposition of removed figures and the female portrait, Migration creates a dynamic dialogue between the idea of roots and routes, and invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences of migration, displacement, and the search for a new home.
