Maureen Engle
A native New Englander, Maureen Engle spent a year in Provence, France after graduating from the University of Virginia. There, she began to experiment with a loose and fresh approach to painting. To her, the joy of painting is to capture the essence of the subject with energy and emotion. She is known for her contemporary and abstract work. Color, emotion and energy are central to her work. Maureen paints with brush and palette knife and enjoys experimentation. Trees are one of her favorite subjects, especially birch and southern pine. Maureen is represented by Frameworks Gallery in Marietta, Web Marsteller in Atlanta and Sunshine Gallery in Watkinsville, GA. She has been in juried exhibits including the Quinlan Art Center, Trinity School's Spotlight on Art, Cobb Museum's Metro Montage and the Atlanta Portrait Society as well as a guest artist at dk Gallery in Marietta.
From the Artist... For me, the fun of painting is never knowing the endgame until the painting ‘reads’ and I put the brush aside.
