Marc Scheff
New York-based artist Marc Scheff is acclaimed for his dimensional portraits. Utilizing layers of resin, he creates conceptual works that explore the unseen complexities of human nature, revealing a profound vulnerability and authenticity.
Scheff's path to art was unconventional. After studying Computer Science at Harvard, his deep-seated creative drive led him to illustration and eventually to his signature medium, resin. This material allows him to physically manifest the themes of layered identity and empathy that have fascinated him since childhood. He meticulously casts dozens of layers, embedding drawings and paintings within the transparent strata. This process transforms each piece into a sculptural narrative, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface. His innovative technique has earned him awards and exhibitions in prominent galleries, solidifying his place as a distinctive voice in contemporary portraiture.
