Douglas Stratton

Douglas Stratton’s intent is to capture the essence of his surroundings. Using multiple exposures in each photograph, he revives the dynamic range of light that is often lost between the human eye and the camera.

Growing up in a rural beach town, Stratton was enamored by the magic of his surroundings. Photography is deeply integrated into his roots; his great-grandmother was a Kodak model, and his grandmother worked on the original Photoshop program. This legacy fueled his passion, leading him to travel to over 20 countries to capture images that feed his soul.

Stratton's work seeks to transport the viewer into the ambience of the place itself, evoking wonderment through the language of each particular space. He studied at the College of Charleston and the Art Institute of Atlanta and currently lives and works in Atlanta. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad.
