David J Robertson
David Robertson was born in Northwest Indiana in November, 1954. He obtained his formal education in graphic design, attending the American Academy of Art in Chicago (1976) earning an associates degree in Graphic Design.
In addition to his career as a graphic designer David started painting small canvases, first painting in oils then latter finding a better aesthetic fit with acrylics. Many of his early paintings were influenced by the impressionist painters whom liberally used bold brush strokes and vivid colors, among them two of David's favorites, Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin.
Currently David continues his artist discovery of the form and function of sculpture and painting. His recent works are inspired by his love for vivid colors and sensuous shapes and are often influenced by the modern Masters Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky.
David’s most recent pieces include embellishments of crystal rhinestones, beads or fragments of audio cds to the sculpture or painting which then becomes beautifully enhanced when illuminated by sunshine or spot lighting, magically the piece comes to life with a glittering burst of color. David's sculptures and paintings have appeared in numerous group shows, magazine articles and art publications. His artwork is held in numerous private and public collections.
