From the Artist... A colleague once said to me "You will always photograph because it is your passion..."
Time has proven these words to be true. Photography has been the one constant in my life for over thirty years, my vocation and my avocation. When I photograph, I am searching for a place beyond words, connecting to an inner universe represented in visual metaphor. There is a presence, a spirit, and a feeling that the subject is communicating with me. The visual excitement is represented in quality of light, layers of texture and a story that is to be told.
I have learned my subject matter is very cyclical; I find myself drawn to rugged coastlines, still waters, weather beaten architecture and urban decay. The feelings of a timeless presence, paying homage to the ephemeral presence of light and passages as metaphor are constant inspirations in my work. Discovering the unique, finding the extraordinary in the mundane, honoring the forgotten, and recording the soon to change, fuel my journey.
As my work continues to grow, I realize this journey to discover the fleeting nature of my inner universe is my unique life quest. My photographs are more telling about my spirit than words can ever be.
