Author and painter Chris Minnick seeks to understand and illustrate patterns and stories that emerge from chaos. Minnick's abstract paintings grew out of his being ambidextrous and learning to paint with both hands (sometimes at the same time). Born in Detroit, he currently lives, paints, and writes in Astoria, Oregon. Minnick studied creative writing at the University of Michigan, and art and photography at Macomb Community College.

From the Artist... I love dreams, getting lost, putting myself in unfamiliar circumstances, and starting projects without having any idea of how to finish them. Order that emerges from laying down paint and then figuring out where to go, or from meetings of strangers, or from mixing contrasting foods and lighting a fire, is often more beautiful to me than anything that’s carefully planned.
