Bette Ridgeway
Bette Ridgeway is celebrated for her large-scale, luminous poured canvases that push the boundaries of light, color, and design. Based in Santa Fe, she has devoted five decades to developing her signature pouring technique.
Influenced by her mentor, Abstract Expressionist Paul Jenkins, Ridgeway's work is a controlled improvisation where gravity is her medium. Her art captures movement—sometimes kinetic and emotional, other times bold and masterful. Inspired by extensive global travel and the high desert light, her paintings are a spontaneous occurrence, born of experience and reflexively maturing during creation.
In her career, Ridgeway has exhibited in over 80 museums and galleries worldwide and has won multiple prestigious awards, including the Leonardo DaVinci International Prize. Her work is held in many public and private collections, such as the Mayo Clinic and the Federal Reserve Bank.
