Varvara is an award-winning graphic designer and illustrator, whose distinctive style is defined by surrealist motifs, bold colors and abstract shapes.She invents highly detailed and endlessly fascinating worlds that blend fantasy and realism in an intricate web of elaborate characters and majestic patterns. Between 2002 and 2017, Varvara served as Art Director of leading fashion and lifestyle magazines, including L’Officel, Robb Report and The Rake. Her illustrations have also been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire, Tatler, Marie Claire, GQ, and others. Since 2017, Varvara has taught BA and MA Illustration and Animation courses, as well as creative art courses for children. She has illustrated several children’s books and collaborates with a jewelry brand. In the Web3 space, Varvara is best known for The Flower Girls - a generative collection of 10,000 female portraits that celebrate beauty and diversity. With over $16 million in sales to date, The Flower Girls is one of the leading women-led NFT projects. Notable holders include Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Eva Longoria, Brie Larson, America Ferrera, Gary Vee, Bill Murray, and Jimmy Connors. At the heart of The Flower Girls collection is Varvara’s commitment to supporting Children - both online and offline. The project has already donated $600,000 to a range of children’s charities, and spent a further $150,000 to collect over 800 artworks from 147 young artists across 43 countries. In addition to The Flower Girls, Varvara has sold over 1,500 artworks as NFTs since joining the space in 2021, including 1/1s and multi-editions. In 2022, her artwork was commissioned by Pepsi for the Pepsi x Mary J. Blige “Strength of a Woman” Festival. She has also collaborated with the Chicago Bulls NBA team for their inaugural NFT collection. In response to the War in Ukraine, Varvara released 200 editions of The Nightingale of Peace, with all proceeds donated to Save the Children’s Ukraine Crisis Fund, raising $65,000.
