Madeleine Farley
Madeleine Farley is a British artist and photographer in Los Angeles. Trained by Ansel Adams’ protégé, she is known for her conceptual series that blend playful wit with deeper psychological and art historical themes.
Farley gained recognition for ‘Movie Tips,’ a series reinventing iconic film moments with Q-Tips. Her work often explores sociological and environmental issues, as seen in her series ‘Endangered,’ which draws attention to the plight of gorillas in the wild.
Her recent work includes a series of sublime images revisiting 17th-century Dutch floral painting. Conceived during quarantine, the photos explore contradiction and immortalize the fugitive in a language of life and death. Another series of abstract light paintings is inspired by Rorschach's inkblot test, examining how individual perception and interpretation shape meaning.
