Dobee Snowber
Dobee Snowber is a mixed media artist based in the Bay Area for over 25 years. She holds a BFA from the Maine College of Art and has participated in residencies at the Vermont Studio School and Penland Art Center. Her work is widely exhibited.
Snowber's art explores the moments and familiar pieces that constitute a life. She is fascinated by the concept of entropy as a reflection of survival. "Inherent in creation is de-construction," she says. "Within this process a history evolves and becomes part of the person or structure itself." Her pieces reflect this process, capturing both the distress and the beauty found in endurance. Despite what life imposes, her subjects stand strong, revealing a certain magic in their strength.
