Dobee Snowber
Dobee Snowber is a mixed-media artist based in the Bay Area. For Snowber, art is a means of connection—a bridge to the common ground she shares with others and a direct link to herself. Her work explores familiar moments and fragments that, when combined, make up a life.
In a recent series, Snowber focuses on swimmers and water, using the figures plunging into or emerging from the water as a metaphor for the constantly changing moments of any given day. These works explore themes of entropy, history, and survival, reflecting on the strength to endure what life imposes.
Snowber holds a BFA from the Maine College of Art and has participated in residencies at the Vermont Studio School and Penland Art Center. She has exhibited extensively in museums and galleries, and her work is held in private collections in the US and abroad. She is currently represented by SHOH Gallery in Berkeley, CA, and Mary Praytor Gallery in Greenville, SC.
