Carolyn Marx

Carolyn Marx is an artist awestruck by ideas—color theory, chaos theory, and the miracle of nature. Drawing from her background as a landscape artist, she creates unique, ephemeral mixed-media works that capture movement and 'barely controlled chaos'.

Her intuitive process involves layering materials like acrylic paint, gels, plastic wrap, and soap bubbles on glass plates. Working outdoors, she uses her camera to capture transient atmospheres and lighting effects, creating compositions that feel like a world within a world. She is fascinated by how a static work of art can perceive motion, a phenomenon she actively explores.

Once a composition is complete, it is photographed in high-resolution. The final piece is a pigmented ink image with no digital modification. The original painting on the glass is then destroyed, ensuring each work is a unique, one-time-only piece of art, capturing a fleeting moment of creation.
