Angela Lubinecky
Angela Lubinecky is a painter whose vibrant, pattern-driven canvases translate the color, rhythm, and optimism of a life shaped by multicultural experience into immersive visual narratives.
Raised in an expatriate community in East Africa, Lubinecky draws on a rich visual heritage — from the bold prints of Kenyan "Maridadi" fabrics and Tanzanian Tinga Tinga paintings to the dynamic geometry of Ugandan batiks. The organic repetition found in nature, particularly the movement of water, is a recurring structural element in her compositions. Color anchors her entire practice: her intentionally bright, vivid palettes are not decorative choices but philosophical ones — expressions of joy, beauty, and an open-hearted embrace of the world's diversity. Each work is designed to transport the viewer to a more carefree and luminous place.
Lubinecky is a recipient of a grant from the North Carolina Arts Council, in recognition of her contributions to the visual arts.
