Welcome to a new blog series today named ‘Loupe Artist Wins’ where we highlight and celebrate the recent accomplishments of our artists.

We are kicking off the series with fine art photographer, musician, and Loupe Artist, Xan Padrón. Hailing from Ourense, Spain, Xan is a self-taught photographer who was incredibly inspired by the work of his journalist father, Luís Padrón, who taught him the patience and the ability to listen and observe stories from behind the camera. After a series of street photography projects in New York, he began a project named Time Lapse in 2011, a collection of portraits capturing cities through the people that inhabit them

Three of Xan’s renown Time Lapse pieces have been featured at The Obama Presidential Center including: Chicago, USA (2017), Coney Island, New York (2018), and Palads Teatret, Copenhagen (2023). The screen that Xan’s work is featured on is so massive it has its own name: Power of Words, and it was created to highlight the power of individual and collective voices of expression.

Power of Words is an innovative digital medium for storytelling, art, film, and sound and reaches a breathtaking height of 88-feet, the size of a four-story building. This large-screen installation features full-screen artists' takeovers and is meant to display works that inspire, empower, and connect people in their pursuit of social progress.
